At Wisdom Dental, we pride ourselves on providing a caring approach to all our patients, treating them as the deserving individuals that they are, whilst also delivering high quality dental care that suits their specific needs. We have been treating patients for over 25 years and are well-established in our field. During our time in existence, our dentist in Acton has been busy developing and keeping up to date with the latest treatments and techniques. Due to this we have a very popular treatment for those with missing teeth, that is arguably the next best thing to having your natural teeth.

Dental implants

For a natural-looking smile, dental implants are an excellent choice if our dentist in Acton offers them to you. But, it is not just about how good your smile will look that makes dental implants something to get excited about. The fact is that with dental implants, you will also get a normally functioning set of teeth too. Dental implants are screws that are attached to the jawbone, where you have missing teeth. They are firmly positioned, as the body’s tissues fuse around them and hold them in place. To these screws, we can then attach crowns, bridges or dentures to give you a completed smile that isn’t going anywhere. This means that you will be able to continue eating as normal, without having to worry about hard foods dislodging your teeth, for example. You will also be able to continue maintaining your dental implants easily like normal teeth, by simply brushing and flossing, and coming to see us for your check-ups, of course!

Anything else I need to know about dental implants?

Getting your dental implants fitted will not require major surgery. In fact, we will only need to use local anaesthetic and it will take just two appointments to complete them. During the first appointment, our dentist in Acton will fit the screws and then attach temporary replacement teeth, so that your gums can heal around the implants. Once this has happened, you will then be able to return for your second appointment to have your permanent replacement teeth fitted. If you are a nervous patient, we are also highly experienced in supporting people who are anxious about their treatment, taking everything at your pace and never doing anything you don’t want us to do. It may be suitable to offer sedation as well for this procedure, if you feel this would help.

By having dental implants, you are protecting your remaining natural teeth (if you have any) and your gums from being overexposed to bacteria. Alongside this, if you have missing teeth, you could also look older if your face becomes drawn. By replacing your teeth, you are giving your face the structure it needs to support the skin and allow it to look smoother, rather than being pulled in. It’s a great by-product of the treatment!
